artists writing e books and their image files

Sleep Study, 4.5 x 6.5 inches © Maud Guilfoyle done on ipad with paper blog

If images are the heart of your e books, it helps to be organized from the beginning. As soon as you scan or photograph your work set up a folder in your main art/image file for each separate work. Keep the original in this file, a high resolution tif and jpeg and 72 pixel jpegs for your e books and the internet (blog, facebook etc.). Remember to copyright your work with your country's copyright office and label each image with your name, ©, Title, dimensions - height x width x depth in inches or centimeters) and media. If you watermark the images that are going online, keep it to the side and make it subtle. If the image you are posting is low resolution and a small file in dimension (up to 6 or 7 inches in width or height) people won't pirate a quality jpeg for printing.
