Sargent Watercolors at the Brooklynn Museum
Went to see the Sargent Watercolor exhibit at the Brooklynn Museum http://www.brooklynmuseum.org/exhibitions/sargent_watercolors/ with two friends, painter Nicole Romano and photographer, Hank Gans. The paintings were joyous and dazzling and I am so glad I got to see them. We went on the last day, Sunday. The museum opened at 11:00 a.m. and we entered at 11:05. I knew it would be crowded so I bypassed the accompanying text and went straight to the paintings, having seen the catalog and knowing I would get it later. It is always amazing how much more you get from seeing art in person than from the internet or a book. I joined artists studying paintings inches away discussing what techniques were used. The support video and graphics was outstanding and overall I found the show a total delight. If you missed this show in Brooklynn, it will be at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston for a few months beginning in October. If you have any hesitation to travel and view this show read Charley Parker's excellent reviews on his blog, Lines and Colors, at:
