Bogen Wisteria Vase with Trumpet mushroom and violet 5 x 7" oil on panel © Maud Guilfoyle

This beautiful Bogen vessel was a gift from a friend. I love the violets against the trumpet mushroom. violets are blooming now and the peach trees are in full bloom at Demarest Farm.
I am just laying out a painting of the peach orchard now.

Maple Tree Blossom © 2010

All of a sudden spring is in full bloom and it is hard to keep up with drawing, painting, and photographing the trees and flowers as they bud. I find it most beautiful when first in bud before the full blown blossoms. All the promise of flowering is there, and you can still see the structure of the trees. In the Northeast when it rains the contrast of the dark street pavement and the bright green tree blossoms and seed pods is striking. I drew this and used watercolor in my Moleskine watercolor notebook.
